The catastrophic bush fires in Victoria, Australia this past week have shocked communities across the world. The terrible toll in human life and property is beyond belief. The combined effects of long dry summer, high forest fuel load, record temperatures and very high winds worked together to create what was expected to be a potential flash point situation.
